Authorities reported that the trio endured nearly 12 hours in the icy lake, clinging to a section of the wreckage until help arrived in Alaska.

On Monday, March 24, Good Samaritans played a pivotal role in the rescue of the stranded crash victims, who had gone missing following their flight over a mountain range at Tustumena Lake, just south of Anchorage.

The Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser had departed Sunday, March 23, but was declared overdue later that evening, authorities said.

Despite the extensive efforts of first responders, the search teams faced challenges due to the absence of an emergency transmitter signal from the wreckage.
